Inotropic Therapies
When one goes through severe heart failure, continuous intravenous (IV) inotropic medications may be needed to help the heart pump and maintain blood pressure. These medications include:
Dobutamine
Dopamine
Milrinone
These medications are a supportive means for those with end stage heart failure with a focus to improve quality of life by reducing the symptoms of heart failure. They also are used to temporarily help the heart until one is given a heart transplant or left ventricular assist device (LVAD).
At American River Infusion Services, we promise to assure a smooth transition from the hospital to home. With expert nurses, we will meet with you several times to educate you on your infusions and the pump required to infuse the medication. Our pharmacist will be at the ready to answer any questions you have related to the therapy.
Once settled at home, American River Infusion Services collaborates with cardiologist, nurses, and hospitals to effectively monitor your response to inotropes and assess the progression of heart failure. Our clinicals will check labs weekly, and call you to review your symptoms, vital signs, and overall health.
We have a 24/7 on call service where a clinician will be available for any emergency that may arise.
